Mid-level Box IPC Offers Best Bang for the Buck

Advantech, the leading industrial computer manufacturer, is pleased to announce the release of the latest in its ARK 3000 series—an economical Celeron® M-based Box IPC with Intel® 910GMLE Express chipset and excellent I/O connectivity. The ARK-3400 offers a fanless computing solution based on the Celeron® Mobile processor (370 or 373), and supports up to 2 GB of standard DDR2 SODIMM memory. This system is especially well-suited to applications as a gate controller, or ticket vending machine, POI, or for in-vehicle installations for applications that deliver schedule information, news, advertising, or emergency bulletins to passengers.

Lots of I/O
With a long I/O coastline, the ARK-3400 offers lots of connectors, lots of functionality: six USB 2.0 ports, two Giga LAN connectors, four serial ports including two RS-232 plus two RS-232/422/485 with autoflow control, two PCI slot, and one MiniPCI slot, which can be used for wireless LAN. There is CF card support, and 16-bit GPIO. For data storage thereis one2.5” SATA HDD bay, and one eSATA panel connector. There is also a CF card slot behind a handy access door.

Excellent Display Options in a Stable System
The low power Intel® 910GMLE Express chipset provides optimized integrated graphics capability, including dual display. DVI-I independent display capabilities consist of VGA, DVI,  and VGA + DVI. LVDS and LVDS backlight are also supported, and the ARK-3400 can optionally be outfitted with a 48-bit LVDS for high resolution display. The LVDS option adds a couple more dual display possibilities: VGA + LVDS, and DVI + LVDS. And mic in, line in, and line out capabilities will fulfill most audio needs.
The extruded aluminum heat sink is an integral part of the case in this fanless design. Passive heat dissipation makes for a stable, long-lasting system that can operate reliably from -20° C to 55° C (-4° F to 131° F). The cable-free interior architecture also contributes to the durability of this build.

There’s a Trip in Its Future
Advantech has extensive experience placing industrial computers in the transportation industry, and the ARK-3400 should be no exception. Ticket vendor, gate controller, information kiosk, and in-vehicle installations should be natural roles for this cost-effective box IPC.

Operating system options include: Win XP, Win XPe, Win CE, Linux Fedora Core 9.0.

The ARK-3400 will be available in July, 2009.
