Packetarium™ Network Platforms

Advantech’s Packetarium™  systems are available in multiple rackmount form factors as standard and customized platforms and share common design features in order to accelerate system design and maximize hardware and software re-use. The Packetarium™ product line streamlines integration of packet processing elements along with the latest switching technologies to provide highly flexible system configurability. The Cavium OCTEON II series is the front runner of the product range with the NCPB-2320 card based on the Cavium OCTEON II CN6880 sporting 32 processing cores plus on-chip packet processing accelerators, and the NCPB-2305 card deploying the Cavium OCTEON II CN6335 processor with 6-cores aimed at both specialized and high-volume entry level deployment. Cavium OCTEON III development is ongoing in preparation of next generation products.
At the high-performance end, the NCP-7560 integrates up to eight powerful, NCPB-2320 network processing cards. Utilizing Cavium Network’s CN6880 OCTEON II processor, a fully configured NCP-7560 packs 256 cores into the 4U server space to handle 80 Gbps of network traffic from multiple 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports. Applications that reap the performance benefits of the Cavium OCTEON II processor family include high-capacity radio network controllers, network acceleration platforms, as well as data center and LTE gateways.

The NCP-5260 represents a new generation of hybrid system designs with x86 processing on the control plane, and network processing cards featuring the Broadcom XLR732 processor for the data plane. The system targets high performance cybersecurity applications as well as network acceleration requirements for initiatives such as real-time packet analysis of data flows in big data programs or data compression.

The Packetarium™ NCP-3120 based on the 6-core Cavium OCTEON II CN6335, brings enhanced scalability to customers deploying the Packetarium™ range in enterprise and cloud security applications.

For OEMs deploying PowerPC®-based technology, the NCPB-2210 Dual Freescale® QorIQ™ P4080 card  with Freescale's VortiQa security application software is optimised to take full advantage of the QorIQ processor technology, including pattern matching, security acceleration, data path acceleration and other technologies. Evaluation of the card’s performance is ideal in a Packetarium™ NCP-3120-based system.

Another member of the Packetarium PowerPC product range, the NCPB-2110, is designed with  dual LSI® ACP-3448 Axxia® communication  processors. The throughput capabilities of the dual Axxia Communication Processor board allow OEMs to deliver applications such as enhanced security and in-content aware routing. The NCP-2110 handles 20 Gbps of IPSEC throughput and 6 Gbps of deep packet inspection performance for protocol analysis to extend service and network integrity.

At the specialized end of the product range, the Packetarium NCP-3105 system integrates the Cavium Octeon II CN6335-AAP Application Acceleration Processor version into a 1U rackmount form factor providing multi-port gigabit Ethernet packet processing in a low-power envelope particularly suited for Radio Access Network elements in 2G, 3G and LTE networks.
